Subaru Leaks New Crosstrek Wilderness Upgrades Before NYIAS

The all-new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness makes its global debut this week at

The all-new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness makes its global debut this week at the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). Subaru of America has not announced its new outdoor-themed Crosstrek trim, but some Subaru retailers leaked the information early.

Now Subaru Corporation revealed some of the Crosstrek Wilderness upgrades in a new video released recently. The video shows a Japanese-specification 2024 Crosstrek with Wilderness upgrades in a new Crosstrek accessories video you can watch below. Some of the images can be seen here.

Here's what we can take from the video.

The 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness will come in a new color, Geyser Blue, like the outdoor-themed Outback and Forester Wilderness trim levels. In addition, the Crosstrek will likely get other colors specifically for the Crosstrek Wilderness. Subaru is known for giving the Crosstrek colors no other model offers.

The new 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness trims will have extra cladding on the side of the vehicle that the standard models don't have. As a result, outdoor enthusiasts will get further off the trail, and the cladding will give the Crosstrek Wilderness extra protection against shrubs and other objects from scratching the side of the all-wheel-drive vehicle.

The Wilderness trim level has the Crosstrek name on the front hood guard. Like the Outback and Forester Wilderness models, the Wilderness front end also gets more protection against the outside elements and a new anti-glare black decal on top of the hood.

The new 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness trims will have extra protection on the rear inside door sill. The larger footguard allows someone to stand on the platform while loading equipment and sports gear on the top roof rail. In addition, the guard will protect the vehicle from scratches.

We know from Subaru of America's teaser image revealed earlier that the Crosstrek Wilderness will have extra protection on the rear bumper with the SUBARU name in all caps and written across the back.

More Crosstrek Wilderness upgrades

Subaru will also give the Crosstrek Wilderness increased ground clearance (likely 9.2-inches like Forester), 17-inch black wheels wrapped in Yokohama Geolander all-terrain tires, dual-function X-Mode, StarTex upholstery, a 180-degree front monitor, anodized Copper interior, and exterior accents, and Wilderness badging. We expect the vehicle also to have a full-size spare tire.

The new Crosstrek Wilderness will also feature a modified Lineartronic CVT automatic (Continuously Variable Transmission), upgraded rear differential, standard front and skid plates, and off-road suspension.

From the video below, outdoor enthusiasts get a sneak peek at some possible Wilderness upgrades before this week's NYIAS reveal. However, you won't have to wait long for the all-new, rugged Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness trim level. The new Wilderness family is growing, and its latest addition will be unveiled on April 5, 2023, at the Subaru press event at the New York Auto Show at 10:10 AM EST. It will be live on Subaru's social media channels. Stay tuned.
